Learning experience maintenance overview

Work on a learning experience doesn't end when it's published. Planning for the maintenance cycle is a critical part of creating and delivering learning experiences that meet our users' needs.

YOUR CHARTER

All charters: required

You are responsible for the maintenance of content you have developed for Unity Learn, unless you have agreed an alternative approach with the Learn team in advance. Some aspects of learning experience maintenance are predictable — for example, updating content for the latest Unity Long Term Support (LTS) release. However, sometimes you might need to make an update that wasn't anticipated. Familiarize yourself with these processes now, so that you can plan and address issues as they arise.

Identify maintenance requirements

Learner comments

Learner comments are a key resource for identifying issues or maintenance requirements for a learning experience. It is your responsibility to monitor user comments and respond to them if you choose to do so. Although the Learn team will notify you if we become aware that users are encountering issues or providing actionable feedback, we do not have the resources to proactively monitor all the content on Unity Learn.

tip

If you add /comments to the end of a Unity Learn URL for a unit of content, you will be able to review all the comments that have been posted on one page.

Performance and impact evaluation

You might also identify content maintenance requirements through ongoing evaluation of content performance using the Unity Learn data dashboards. If you need additional support with this, contact your LXD.

Notify us about required maintenance

You can initiate a content maintenance request by completing the Learn Content Request form. A member of the Learn team will then reach out to discuss the specifics and help you to plan the work.

Content deprecation

Sometimes a learning experience can no longer be maintained and the best approach is deprecation. Whenever possible, we redirect learners to alternative content that will help them achieve their goals when they try to access a deprecated learning experience.
