Practical activity checklist
YOUR CHARTER
Full charter: required
Flexible charter: as indicated in the charter
Fast charter: not used
Note: This checklist also appears in the Practical activity worksheet.
As you develop your practical activity ideas, keep the following questions in mind:
- Will this project and the activities help learners achieve the defined learning outcomes?
- Will this project and the activities cover all the skills that you've defined? (Refer to the Competencies and skills worksheet.)
- Will your target personas enjoy this project? Will it feel like it was built with them in mind? That is, is it specific enough to be an interesting project to work on, but generic enough to be recognizable by learners and appeal to them?
- Is your desired practical activity already built?
- If not, can you build it or have you identified someone who can? (In some cases, the Learn team may be able to help.)
- Is the practical activity simple enough to be doable by your learners, and will it allow them to focus on the topic they are learning without a lot of complexity or distractions?
- Will the project file size be small enough so that even people without broadband internet can download it?
- Can learners make choices and customize the project throughout your practical activity to express themselves and make it their own?
- Tip: Make a list of ways learners can customize and express themselves on the Practical activity worksheet. These ideas will be useful later.
- Will learners easily be able to apply the tasks in the practical activity to their own projects? There might be dependencies that won't transfer. For example, if your project depends on custom scripts, users might not be able to use those scripts elsewhere.
- Have you considered how you will prioritize accessibility as you design and develop the project? If you're not sure where to begin, you can do the following:
- Review Inclusive design and accessibility and Project pre-production in the Practical Game Accessibility course. (This course is useful even if you're not focusing on the games industry.)
- Reach out in the #talk-accessibility Slack channel if you'd like to discuss this further to support planning.
