Resources for writing your learning experience
Just as we have technical standards for Unity projects in learning experiences, we also have writing standards for your tutorials. Learning experiences on Unity Learn need to meet certain standards to ensure a consistently high-quality experience for learners.
YOUR CHARTER
All charters: required
There are three key resources that will help you meet the writing standards for Unity Learn:
- Our style guide: A specific variation of the Unity Style Guide for learning experiences.
- Our content patterns: Blueprint or boilerplate copy that you can use in a variety of common situations with minimal adjustment.
- Single source of truth (SSOT) content: Standardized instructions that are referenced rather than replicated in multiple learning experiences, to avoid creating many instances that need regular maintenance.
Compliance guidelines
Unity Learn restricts content that is explicit, is illegal, includes improper use of copyrighted materials, is not related to Real-time 3D, or is not considered in the service of learning Unity or Unity-adjacent products.
Writing guidance for your initiative
We know that it can be challenging to know where to begin when you need to write in a particular style for the first time. We also know that not every team has a dedicated writer; non-specialists with technical expertise are often the people who draft learning experience content. These resources have been created to help anyone writing learning experience content, especially non-specialists. If you need additional guidance, please contact your learning experience designer (LXD).
